Located along India’s Southeast coast, and formerly called Madras, Chennai is the capital city of the state of Tamil Nadu. The city boasts of several things, one amongst them being Marina Beach which is 14 kms long. With a high literacy rate, it is known for its talented population of quality software professionals, and it is amongst the largest exporters of software, IT and ITeS.

Thanks to its abundant IT talent, Chennai has become a favoured location for IT industries to take root – and grow. Many software and software services companies have development centres here, some of them making it their largest hubs. Prominent financial institutions, including the World Bank have back office operations in the city. Also based in and around Chennai are several Telecom and Electronics manufacturers including Nokia, Siemens, Motorola, Dell, Samsung, to name a few. It is also known for its automobile industry and has the presence of Ford India, Hyundai, BMW, Renault Nissan to name a  few.

Tamil Nadu and Chennai is steeped in culture and amongst other things, is renowned for its classical dance, especially the dance form “Bharatanatynam" and classical Carnatic music. Chennai is also contemporary with a choice of many entertainment and dining options which enables an active social life.
